Rico (05.26.2011 - 11.25.21) came to us in 2013 at just over 2 years old. Like my female Phyre, Rico was from Ajay Singh of vom Patiala in San Francisco California. Rico was an extremely athletic, powerful and driven son of SG Mac von der Kine SchH3, IPO3, FH2. His protection was intense and balanced. Hard, full grips, strong fight drive all while remaining clear headed and focused. Rico showed the same focus and drive in his obedience and tracking.
In July 2014, we accomplished his IPO 1 with High Tracking, High Obedience, High Protection, High IPO 1 and High in Trial at the Saugeen SchH Club (98-90-93). Three months later, we repeated his performance for his IPO 2. We didn’t take the High in Tracking title, but the rest were ours (96-90-95). His IPO 3 was earned in October 2015 at the Schutzhund Club of Buffalo (95-83-97) with High IPO 3.
Rico was shown twice - once at the 2015 Ontario Regionals and the second time at the 2015 New England Regionals. He received the rating of SG at both shows. He is breed surveyed under SV Judge Franz Kampenhuber but we were unable to re-enter for his lifetime survey because of time constraints with the 2017 Nationals.
Rico LOVED to work, LOVED to play and gave both his all. Rico fit into our family immediately. He was a wonderful pet who lived for attention. He was a playful dog who had solid nerves and a clear head. His drive was strong yet he calmed easily in the house. He was a motivated tracker with excellent article indication. His obedience was focused and one step away from explosion. Rico’s protection was very balanced and solid. He brought fight to the field with solid secondary obedience.
Rico's genetics were exceptional. His dam is Nela vom Patiala IPO3 from vom Patiala Kennel, daughter of Jilnannah vom Talka Marda the only producing female from the world famous J-litter vom Talka Marda. His sire Mac von der Kine qualified for the BSP in 2010 from LG 13 with 96-91-94 (placing 5th). Amazingly this dog was then 53rd at the BSP (95-80-93) with his 1st time SchH handler! Mac also competed at Landes -FH1 & placed 4th (96 pts) & received his FH2 (96).
Some notable dogs from Rico's pedigree are; Sid vom Haus Pixner, Quaste von Ankenrutt and Vox von der Kine. Of all the dog in Rico's 5 generation pedigree (62 dogs) - all but 4 have attained a SchH 3 or IPO 3 (the 4 that have not are titled to SchH 1 or 2) and 27 have FH titles.
Rico is a member of the United Schutzhund Club of America SchH 3 Club.
Rico was a loving dog who was a pleasure to have in our home. We miss him very much but we are blessed to have his daughter and granddaughter who remind us of him everyday.

Description: Rico was an average sized (81lbs - 37kg, 62cm - 24.5") solid built male with a short standard coat. He was an extremely stable, clear headed dog with a great on/off switch. He had huge ball drive, nice food drive and learned very quickly. He was a dog that lived to please! Rico was a wonderful companion and house dog. He had no issues with surfaces, noises, people or situations. Rico was excellent around other dogs and cats.
Coat: Rico was a standard short coat, sable colour and carried black & tan as his recessive colour gene.
